About My COLLINS Research including BUNCH, BURNETT, HURST, HUTCHISON, PETTYJOHN, BLACKSTONE, BARLOW etc.
This is my homepage in my search for some of the following families: COLLINS, BUNCH, BURNETT, BLACKSTONE, HURST, HUTCHISON, PETTYJOHN, WADE, and BARLOW leading to another COLLINS branch. I try to update the website every week but some times life gets in the way. I have recently begun adding military ranks, where known, to listed relatives and descendants as a way of honoring their military service.

I found a quote online which says "To rescue from oblivion the history of a large and honorable family is a praiseworthy achievement. Somebody must begin the work. It is hoped that someone will complete it." This was from the book, "Sketches of the Bozeman Family", by Reverend Joseph Woodruff Bozeman, 1885. I am not related to Mr. Bozeman but wholeheartedly support his statement. Then recently I found another which is just as relevant: "Genealogy begins as an interest, Becomes a hobby, Continues as an avocation, Takes over as an obsession, And in its last stages, Is an incurable disease." Author Unknown

There have been a lot of friends that have helped me in my research. I'd especially like to thank Dorothy Deniger, Russell Collins, Reta Hare, Jim Nickels, Beverly Shenold, Tonya Rensch, Shane Spencer and Kathy Franks for their assistance. A lot of this information would not be available without their input.

I am sharing my data in the interest of collaborative research and hopefully to assist others in their own research. I have not personally researched all of the families listed; the dates and information are subject to verification, and we all know how difficult that can be. Please bear in mind that there may be discrepancies. I find errors and make corrections almost every week. I encourage you to seek further documentation for your own confirmation as I do consistently. Not all of these families are directly related to me. When available, research has been done on collateral families and that info is included. I live in Douglas County, Missouri within a few miles of where many of these BUNCH, COLLINS, HURST, and PETTYJOHN families lived and that is my main area of research. Much of that information has been provided to me by family members and then verified through other sources.

If you need an invitation to visit this site I'm happy to assist you. If you are granted access to the website, please stay in touch and let me know any connections we may have. This search, much like life, is a work in progress. If you have any additions or corrections, please let me know. Good luck in your hunting and if I can assist, please notify me at tkcollins947@gmail.com

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
