About The Clark Family
My name is Judith Clark. I started this site as a way to track my genealogy. If you have been invited you are welcome to add to the information contained on this site. I want to make sure that the information on this site is accurate, so a few simple rules:
1 - If you add anyone to the site please make sure to enter their birth name along with the birth parents if known. Enter the last name in all caps (the exception being if the name is for example like DeWOLFE or MacISAAC.) I am currently updating the site to fix this for previously entered information.

1(a) - There are some names where the family name is not all caps - these are names that I have received from a likely source, but which still need to be researched. These are on the Nelson side of the family and resided in Denmark.

2 - If you have information that contradicts what is already on the site please email me, do not just change the information (unless it is about you, your spouse and/or children).

3 - Please check that the additions you make are sensible - if you have a father & child born 8 years apart, or the child born more than a year after the father died, I will break the link to that portion of the family. (A good example - nearly every tree I have seen has Sir Richard Empson listed as the father of Jane Empson who happens to be my 10th Great Grandmother, this is just impossible. He was executed at the behest of King Henry VIII 24 years before she was born - which has been well documented.)

4 - The Calendar Change -- In approximately 1582 the Julian calendar became obsolete in most countries which went to the Gregorian calendar. Under the Julian calendar the year began on March 25th, whereas the Gregorian calendar the year began on January 1st. England and it's colonies continued to use the Julian calendar through 1752. In most cases the dates from Jan 1 through Mar 24 would be written with dual years - for example Jan 15, 1634/5. Under the Gregorian calendar the date would be Jan 15, 1635, but under the old Julian calendar the date would be Jan 15, 1634. Because this program does not allow the use of the dual years all dates are written using the Gregorian calendar.

5 - If something doesn't appear possible I may ask for documentation. If you are unable to provide it and I cannot verify the information as it has been input I may break the link. If you have any questions please let me know.

6 - If you add any photos please list who is in the photo top to bottom, left to right. If there is an individual who is not a family member please enter their name & relationship or if the individual is unknown please mark as such. In this way we can tell who is who in the photo.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
