About NewtonSmoot Family Tree
Please sign in to see more.
Welcome to the genealogy of McQuellen Newton, son of Sullivan NEWTON and Mary E. SMOOT of Sumter County, Alabama. Paternal grandparents Melvin NEWTON and Ellen QUARLES JONES. Maternal grandparents Elijah SMOOT and Alice EVANS.

This tree is a compilation of McQuellen Newton's direct and collateral ancestors and descendants as well as those of his siblings and their descendants. The original data for this tree was derived from the 1983, 1990, and 2001 NewtonSmoot Family Reunion Booklets. The main sources used to verify that data have been accessed through Ancestry.com or FamilySearch.com. To date, not all relationships and dates have been verified as the process is ongoing. Names with "-PSO" after the surname are those individuals that I believe (no proof yet) belong to the Possible Slaveholding family.

This site requires an access code to view all but the Home page. Any errors or inaccuracies are the sole responsibility of the Webmaster. Please contact Webmaster at chloev@prodigy.net if you have corrections or additional family data or photos to contribute.

If you are a descendant of Melvin Newton or Cyrus Smoot and you do not find your name in this tree then please contact me immediately. Be prepared to provide the names of a relative who is in this tree and the relationship to you, your parents, grandparents, or even great-grandparents.

THANK YOU for your interest and please SIGN our GUESTBOOK. Family members may also sign up for this site's Newsletter!

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
