About Benson Family of New York
Please sign in to see more.
I have been putting together the information for this family tree for a few years now. It is not complete.

My roots are German, Italian, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, French-Canadian, and English.

Although many parts of the family have moved away, my ancestors pretty much remained in the Bronx, and lower Westchester County area, Yonkers and Mt. Vernon, New York.

I can prove my Benson line back to Chauncey S. Benson, born in Vermont in 1821. I have found several different trees claiming to have found Chauncey's father. But all of these seem to be undocumented. I will continue to track down any source that proves who Chauncey's father is.

For privacy reasons, only information about the dead can be viewed by the general public. To view information about the living, a guest password is required.
This page really serves two purposes. The first is for other genealogists possibly researching the same people that I am, to get in touch with me. The second is for my living relatives. This is the easiest way to share information with them.
If any family members have photographs or documents that they would like to share, I would be happy to put them on this page. Just E-mail them to me. If you'd like, you can even send me your favorite photo of yourself. I want to make sure I get your "good" side. I also want to know about any incorrect or missing information. Please let me know.

I have added a person named "Photographs, Unknown", and have filed all unidentified photos of people I believe might be family under this name. If you get an extra minute, please take a look at these photos, and let me know if you recognize any of them.

I would also like to give credit to the other geneologists who have helped with this project, especially my partner Kevin Preiss, Valerie Benson-Danielson, and Kathleen Benway- Beardsell.

I update this page often, so please check back now and then. This is a work in progress.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
