About Obermann-Beck Family
In the Germany village of Heimertshausen, near the town of Alsfeld, a tailor and farmer named Johannes Obermann married Anna Marie Catherine Hollscher on November 25, 1818. They became the parents of five children, Johannes, Heinrich, Karl, Elizabeth and Frederich. All five children emigrated to America in the mid-19th century and eventually settled in southeastern Iowa. By 1900 their families were growing and scattering. They felt the need to gather together and reaffirm their family ties. They planned a family reunion and the tradition has continued every year since, becoming one of the longest running annual reunions in the United States.

(Please note that all Obermann's listed here are spelled with two n's even though some have chosen to spell their name with one n.)
