At the beginning of this family tree is Patrick Weir who came to Australia on the ship Liguria in February 1888 with 6 of his children. The passenger list is as follows: Unassisted Shipping Index. Weir, Miss C 20 Weir Mrs Sarah 50 The eldest daughter Matilda Mary [Tilly] came separately from South Africa with her husband. Sadly,It seems that Sarah arrived 4 days after Patrick died.It must have been a very sad time and a very tough time for the family as well. They came from Mullingar Westmeath Ireland where the the Weir family had lived on a farm in the townland called Ballyboy since 1717. They settled in Melbourne and from there spread to Tasmania, Sydney and country NSW. Most of the information in this family tree has been researched by Bernie`s eldest, Bill Weir from Wagga Wagga, NSW, Australia..
