About The Oudneys & Cross family
Please sign in to see more. Welcome to my family history website. This covers as much of the Oudneys, Stewarts, Crosses and Culletons families that I could find.
The Oudneys come from Perthshire and Angus in Scotland, and the original name seems to be Udney. There is a Castle Udney in Aberdeenshire but we are probably the poor relations, as there is not any close connection in the last 400 years. The Oudneys had various occupations such as on the railways and shipbulding. One of the Oudneys was the captain of a ship that foundered off the coast of West Africa in 1902.
The Stewarts came from Perthshire and Angus as well and worked on the land, until the 20th century.
The Crosses were originally from Suffolk in England and our branch of the Crosses comes from Joseph Cross, who emigrated to Australia in 1866 after travelling out there with the army and seeing action at Eureka Stockade and the Maori Wars in New Zealand.
The Culletons were from Kilkenny and County Clare in Ireland, and emigrated to Australia in the mid-19th century. They settled in Victoria, Australia and later generations moved to Western Australia.
A lot of the information has come from other members of the family who have kindly shared their infomation and photos with me. I am aiming to get as much information about all the families as possible, and also obtain any old photos, in order to make them available to future generations. If anyone has any stories or information about members of this tree, or photos, please email me.
If anyone wants me to add more information, such as partner's and children's details, please email me and I will be happy to do so. Also, if there are any mistakes, please email me with the corrections.
