This site is an on-going project to trace families who migrated into West Virginia before statehood in 1863.
In the 1700's the focus is in Virginia counties such as present day Frederick, Shenandoah, Rockingham and Rockbridge or on the eastern counties now in West Virginia such as Randolph, Greenbrier, Hampshire and Hardy. Focus is also on northern counties such as Monongalia or Ohio county.
In the 1800's, as these families migrated, focus shifts to southern and north central counties such as Kanawha, Mason, Nicholas, Gilmer, Harrison, Wood, Jackson, Roane, Calhoun, and Wirt Counties
For identification, my personal ancestors are highlighted with red square markings.
