About PLUMB-GRIMES-ARMSTRONG (RUCKER)-BRADY
Hello Friend,

Get down and set a bit, have a bite to eat, relax, put your feet up...welcome to this TREE featuring my PLUMBS, RUCKERS, BRADYS & GRIMES. You'll find that most of the information for my extended Plumbs is from THE PLUMB BOOK, 2nd edition, 1893, by Henry Blackman Plumb. I work with the census for more current family information as I have the time. I've included a few notes from Joshua Hempstead's DIARY and Caulkins' HISTORY OF NEW LONDON with those colonial New London families (Plumbes, Hempsteads, Morgans, Bolles, Ames/Eames, Powers, Trumans, Shapleys, Picketts, Brewsters, etc.)

If you're a Plumb researcher, you'll notice that I've included the family of Robert and Grace Crackbone Plume (Spaynes Hall, Great Yeldham, Essex) in my tree. The reason is, I believe (as did H. B. Plumb) the two immigrant family lines (John Son of Robert & Grace, born 1594, Immigrant of 1635, & John born 1634 son of George of Inworth, Immigrant of 1658) are closely related. I believe the latter John's Father,George Plume of Inworth, Essex (born 1607) was either Son or Grandson, at least the Nephew of Robert & Grace Crackbone Plume. I simply cannot prove it yet! I'm in the process of doing some DNA testing to try to clarify this connection.

You'll also notice that I'm adding the family and descendants of Benoni Plumb of Middletown, Connecticut, having been convinced that he's either son of John Plumbe, Sr. of Milford (from the 1635 immigrant), or John Plumbe of Hartford and New London (the 1658 immigrant). It matters little; it appears that one of those gentlemen (who were related to begin with) had Benoni "out of wedlock" with Sarah Cornwell of Middletown, daughter of Sgt. William Cornwell.

The greater portion of the work on our Ruckers, Bradys, Grimes, Simmons, Moores, Prices, Fitzgeralds, Simons, etc., along with their extended families is from my sister's hard work over many years: Cara Plumb Jones. Most of the grave pictures are from Find-a-Grave, or my friends at RAOGK (Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness), GenWeb, Ancestry.com, Genealogy.com, Genealogical Gleanings, etc.

I'm willing to do look-ups in the PLUMB BOOK, THE DIARY OF JOSHUA HEMPSTEAD, HISTORY OF NEW LONDON (Frances Manwaring Caulkins), and some of the materials I've got on the above named families. I also have a FITZGERALD BOOK, and volume on the BRADYS of Barbour, West Virginia

A huge thanks finally to Ken & Daisy Plumb, formerly of Olathe, Kansas, now of "Heaven, General Delivery," the wonderful couple who approached me in 1980 and asked me the simply question: "Which branch of the Plumb Family are you from?" The next day they gave me a copy of the PLUMB BOOK, and I've never looked back (lol)!

Thanks for the stopping by, take care of yourself; I hope you find something helpful,

Chuck Plumb
