About Descendants of William Ramsay
Please sign in to see more. This is the family of William Ramsay who came to America from the North of Ireland in 1730. William settled on Lower Marsh Creek near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and died there in 1777. At least one of his sons, many inlaws and possibly himself are recognized as patriots in the War for American Independence. One of his grandsons, James Gettys, is the founder of Gettysburg. His descendants moved on from Gettysburg following the migration of the Scots-Irish people that extended in a crescent stretching from Pennsylvania to the Carolinas. The story of this family was affected by many of the historical events of America such as: the California Gold Rush, the Civil War, the great westward migration, WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, clear up to Afghanistan. And so the story continues today.
