About Bass/Swink /Sterling/Bailey/Gray/White/Washington

The Bass/Swink/Sterling/Bailey/Gray/White families hail from Anniston, Alabama; Georgia; Louisiana; Los Angeles, Sacramento and Oakland, California and Sweden. Our family members were enslaved, have worked as sharecroppers, farmers, teachers, librarians, business owners, store managers, government employees, healthcare workers, journalists and military professionals. We have survived slavery, the Great Depression, Jim Crow, the Civil Rights Era, various economic downturns and personal hardships. We can now say, in the year 2023 we have also survived political corrupt attempts to overthrow the United States Government by insurrection. We are now working to survive the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic, economic recession, fresh-faced white supremacy, civil and racial unrest. The daily news reminds us that we are in the midst of a new living nightmare. So, listen up, descendants! We must protect ourselves from this killer virus, emboldened hate groups, systemic racism and politicians who are complicit in the demise of our race, our family and our country. NOW SCOTUS and some Republicans states have taken away protection of women's reproductive rights, affirmative action, BOOKS!! we must vote to protect all human rights, and to defend our country from those who seek to destroy it. We are as unique as we are one, connected by blood, marriage, friendship and duty to one another and country. Our ancestors literally built these United States of America with their hands, blood, sweat and tears. Its very foundation rests on their backs. Never forget knowledge allows us to see the light at the end of the tunnel and voting keeps the light bright for all generations to come.
