About The York, Patterson, McCormick, Hankins Families
This is a work in progress that I have been enjoying since the early 1970's. As with any large project, there will be errors. If you are sure of an error, please notify me. When there have been two sources of conflicting information, I choose the primary source or most likely.

I hope to hear from relatives who have wanted information to be passed to them for some time as well as relatives yet to be discovered. I created this website primarily to share information with relatives near and far. Please add your own family information by getting my permission as a family member and if there is something I need to add or change that you cannot, let me know so I can do that for you. Feel free to print whatever you would like. If you want a complete copy the website only allows you to purchase a CD for $28.00. (I would have to do the same thing myself.) I do still have a ton of information that needs to be added as I get the time.

Be sure to check out the stories section on the bottom of this home page for several additions I have recently made including one about York stone buildings. Please send me photos and your information concerning more buildings or stories.

My York line consisting of Thomas Robert York, his wife, Elizabeth and his children immigrated from Piddington, Northampton, England to Junction City, Kansas in 1870.

My McCormick line immigrated from Liverpool, England where Daniel was born. His parents were born in Ireland area yet to be discovered. Daniel immigrated to Philadelphia before 1861 thence to Wamego, and on to Junction City, Kansas. The McNichol, (McNickle, McNigle) line immigrated from Ireland to Philadelphia where she married McCormick. They both died and are buried in Junction City, Kansas.

My Patterson line and many of their various related lines (Copeland, Lasater, Moutray, Lehman) have been in the United States since the 1600 to 1700's and I have not made a lot of progress on where or when they immigrated to the U.S. The immigration within the United States was from Virginia, to North Carolina, Tennessee, and to Missouri for many of them. The Copelands and Lasaters moved with them and are related lines. The Moutrays came through Kentucky before moving to Missouri.

My Hankins line immigration pattern was Virginia to Ohio to Missouri.

The Swedish connection is from my husband. The Beck, Johnson, Herman, and Besser lines immigrated from Sweden and much research has been done by Aunt Alva Johnson Smith and Bernard Johnson for the Johnson tree. That is on tribal pages The Beck and Johnson Families.

After checking people, dates, and places if any of this coincides with your family information, please contact me. I love to find new "old relatives!"

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.

Announcement! As a guest you will have access to restricted data (information about living relatives). You will also be able to add information about your family and pictures. You will need to enter your e-mail and create your own password.
