About Charteris, Hansen, Walker & Beyond
Please sign in to see more.
Welcome to this website!
I am a descendant of Walter Bruce Charteris,(1910-1983) who was married to Taniko Annie Reweti(1918- 1971).
I have decided to look at the both sides of my father's family, CHARTERIS & HANSEN, and try to go back as far as I can.**Where one will find surnames with two asterix, this will help to distinguish my main ancestry.**
The reader will notice that I have also looked at family connected to myself through marriages and have made myself available to others who are connected to other family members in a similar way. I will try and use a different colour to distinguish relationships. My wish is that recordings made are to be factual and not disguised in such a way that it is proven to be false.
The information will show family traits, actions and achievements. The aim in writing, is to highlight the truth and in no way does it place judgements on any individual. Remember, if it wasn't for our ancestors, we would not be here! WE ONLY HAVE ONE GO AT LIFE AND WE NEED TO LIVE IT THE WAY WE MEAN TO GO ON!

RESEARCH:Thanks go to the late Catherine Charteris (wife of Bob Charteris, of Wanganui NZ); who had completed quite a lot of material for the 'Charteris' clan. The 'Hansen' information was taken from the book written by Eric Leslie Hansen, entitled "Vikings, Villains & Vagabonds" It is the history of an Australian family 1550c - 1995. Other research was found looking at New Zealand Early Settlers, computer & library access. If anyone else cares to add to this information, feel free to do so.

If I have made an error, please bring this to my attention so this can be rectified.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
