About The Watts and Kynch Family History

The Watts Family 1979

The Watts Family 1979
This website is the result of research carried out by the late Rosemary Kynch over a period of about 20 years. Rosemary's interest in family history first began with conversations with my father and mother, Fred and Edith Watts. She became very interested in the Watts family that originated from Sheffield at the turn of the last century. I remember visiting Sheffield with her on one occasion to find out more about Joseph and John Willson in Attercliffe. How delighted we both were to find the tombstone in the overgrown graveyard of the Zion Congregational Church. I think that was the moment when she was inspired to want to discover more. In March 1987 she wrote the following: "Joseph WATTS was a deacon of Zion Congregational Church for 30 years. You may imagine how thrilled we were in 1985 when we found the building, now, sadly leased to a furniture company who use it as a warehouse and are allowing damp to creep in. Outside, along one side of the church we discovered a small cemetery, very overgrown, with mattresses etc. dumped in it. After searching, we found a tombstone to Joseph Watts and took a photograph". Before her sad death in May 2005, she asked me what would happen to all her files and papers on family history. I replied that I would take care of them and catalogue her records into a computer database. This website is dedicated to Rosemary, her life and all that it meant to those who knew and loved her. I only wish that she was around now to witness the end result. I am sure she would be delighted with it. As a result of publishing her website I have now made contact with new family members and others who have supplied information to me. Some of this has now been included and I gratefully acknowledge their help. Fifteen years later after Rosemary’s death, my own research still continues. The history of all our families will go on but who will spend time to write about it and who will want to discover more like Rosemary did? Will this website still exist in 200 years time? Please sign the guest book and add any comments you may have.
