About The Scheck, VanAmburg, Reece, Worm, and Lautner Family
Please sign in to see more. The original spelling was Czech. The country from which the Scheck's originated was the country of Prussia, the providence of Pomerania. Pomerania no longer exists and was divided into Germany and Poland. It was a country that was the battlefield for many years. In researching our family history I was able to find a lot of facts, but most of them were after they came to the United States. I have read letters from both my Grandfather, Raymond Dietrich John Scheck and another letter from Erwin Scheck, both refer to an attempted assination in Pomerania. The attempt failed and the Czech was assinated. The family scattered over different parts of Prussia, Poland and Germany. Eventually the family started to migrate to the United States.
Just received information on the surname Czech. History of the name goes way back,to Bohemia. Also was able to find information on the surname Czech, Family Crest. It was a blue shield with three red roses.
My Dad, George Price Scheck also hired a company to trace the history and he came up with the same assination story.
The VanAmburgs have a very interesting history. Some were in the Revolutionary War serving on the American side and some served on the British side. |
