About Satnari Dodhia Family - of Khirasra, India
This is the family tree of one Mr Sura Bhoja Dodhia, who is known to have migrated from the village of Chapa Beraja in Halar district of Saurashtra, Gujarat, India, to settle in the village of Khirasra also in Halar district, Saurashtra, Gujarat, India. Here he had married Bhaavalben, and had 8 children, seven sons and one daughter, the seven sons being Mr Merag Sura Dodhia, Mr Ranmal Sura Dodhia, Mr Sojpar Sura Dodhia, Mr Virji Sura Dodhia, Mr Khimji Sura Dodhia, Mr Pethraj Sura Dodhia, and Mr Karamshi Sura Dodhia (who had died without leaving issue). These seven sons became known as the Satnari Dodhias of Khirasra (meaning 7 brothers), and they had one sister, Jethiben Sura Dodhia (who was married to a Mr Maya Megha Haria, and who had born 7 daughters and one son!). The seven Satnari Dodhia brothers had their own families, many of whom migrated (before the second world war) to Mombasa in Kenya for greener pastures, due to the shortage of rains and land in Saurashtra. The seven brothers were farmers in Khirasra, but their subsequent generations became merchants and industrialists in Kenya, and graduates and professionals in the UK.
Some families migrated to Bhiwandi and Mulund in Maharashtra, and Rajkot in Gujarat, where they became manufacturers and traders in the textile industries.
Thereafter, many families migrated from Kenya to UK, USA and Australia
