About The Scottish Side
Here is my list of the Saunderson/Given Ancestors as far back as I can find them so far.

As you will see, it is often the first names that carry on through history - although there are many James, William, Elizabeth and Marys where new parents named their children after themselves and their own parents/grandparents. The exotic sounding Hanse Stevenson (it's a variation of John!) made it easy to spot some of the links, and I did not enjoy tracking the McPheators (or McPheator, McPheaton, McPheatous, McPheater, McPheatis, McFeetor, McFedries, McVeeters, McFesters!!) who made it a bit more of a challenge...

So far, I am back to 10 generations on some lines - and if I could name all of them there would be 8190 people on this page who are our direct ancestors, over about 300 years. (There is a spreadsheet attached under Files, in the Media Tab above which might be useful if you want to pick out names/dates.)

If I could dig deep enough, we all must be related to each other - 10xGreat Grandparents = 2048 couples who had children, who had children, who had children etc etc. If there were an average of 3 children each (and there were frequently families of 10 or 12 kids) then by the time we get to us that is 3,265,173,504 individuals, or about 50x as many people as currently live in the UK!

Enjoy the read!

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
