Please sign in to see more.
Dear Ones, welcome to our family website. Most of the information was gathered from memories and the Menzel Family History (1986), the Hale family history(1960-1961), and the John Hale Story. Copies are available from me. I welcome your help in updating the information with current information on your branch, also photos and writing, biographies, memories and any additional treasures.Nov 2003: Our most recent celebration was the party and cousinfest celebration for Hope Hale Davis' 100th birthday party on Nov.3,2003, a great party.See below!
May: About the Macfarland Clan, we have recently found online a tremendous amount of information and history going back to the 9th century. Many thanks to those MacFarlanes who dedicated their lives to research and sharing. We come from the Kenneth MacAlpine Clan going back to Kenneth MacAlpine, and our clan was founded by a younger grandson of the earl of Lennox, Pharlan. Our tribe is many. Our roots are in the beautiful lake area of Scotland, Loch Lomond and Loch Sloy.
October, we mourn the passing of a great lady, Hope Hale Davis, strong to the end at 100, almost 101.Her memorial will be held in December. July 2005,a time of great progress and rediscovery of our roots in Paris and Russia, going back all the way to Sholom Navyedel-Naftali, born approx 1730 in northern Lithuania.
To the Crystal/Rabinowitz branch, we rejoice that our family is experiencing a time of healing and regathering. There is little information from before our grandparents' immigrations. I welcome help with this project, to learn more, to understand their journeys,to remember,to honor those passed,to find the missing branches of our tree.
We know that the Crystal family came from the areas of Lodz and Warsaw Poland, and the
Rabinowitz family came from a small village in Lithuania (Russia), probably near Kaunas.New: Rabinowitz family found in 1874 in Pazelviai(Zelva), Lithuania, and our oldest known member is Abram Rabinovich, my great-great-great grandfather. Our Grandmother Jennie Rabinowitz Crystal immigrated approx 1891,before Ellis Island was opened. Joseph Crystal came in through Canada approx 1907,taking the railroad to Boston. His brother George made the journey first and then brought his wife and children in 1906.
It is clear from new research that some survived the Holocaust and WW2. Joseph Crystal had a brother and possibly a sister in France. We have located some probable relatives and survivors! More adventures will come, and we welcome reunion.Contact me for amazing and wonderful updates and great new leads. There are still many mysteries to be solved, but we are gathering more pieces of the puzzle.Food for thought:some alternate spellings of our name: Krysztal, Kristel,Krystal,Kristall. Our tribe is not few, there were Crystals in Poland, Lithuania, the Ukraine, travelers to S.Africa, England,Montreal, Quebec,Paris, Antwerp, Kobe, Japan, the Southwest,S.America, Chicago, Boston...We thought we were nearly alone but not so.Stories of courage, stories of heartbreak, stories of love...
To all, I welcome your help and appreciate your being. Keep in touch and pass on the information to those not online.Help me update our address list. Leave me a message in the guestbook, update your information, contribute a memory, poem, song or image. The photos and other artwork will be added as I have the opportunity. I also have 4 quilts to share which relate to family history. We also welcome back our cousins, happily now reconnected to our branches of the extended Crystal family. The research is progressing and we hope to have a summary of the new info written soon. Special events : one the 50th anniversary of Harold and Leona Crystal in July, a wonderful celebration of a beautiful love story. The other:at an undetermined future date,
we hope to celebrate and remember the Crystals and Rabinowitzes who immigrated to the US and the distant cousins, victims of the Holocaust,. New cousins found, welcome back! July 2011, we have added a few new little baby people and celebrated more connections with the lost members of our tribe, all over the world. Now we have a page on facebook to share connections and research for the living, THE CRYSTAL TRIBE, and a page to honor the dead and survivors of the Holocaust and persecutions, THE CRYSTAL MEMORIAL PAGE. I am working on my arts degrees with the University of Orange and recently enjoyed seeing many old friends and family at Maggie's Book Party in NJ.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
