Welcome to the "Many Branches of the Mominee Family. The website is dedicated to Michel Montmesnil's Descendants who migrated from Quebec, Canada westward. The early families primarily settled in Ohio and Michigan before moving to other places throughout the United States.

The family name has undergone many different spellings since the early 1600's. Some examples the I found through research are; Momanee, Momrey, Momenee, Momeni, Momeny, Momery, Momini, Mominie, Mominy, Momminy, Momonee, Monminy, Montmeny, Montminy and of course Mominee. There may be other variations that I have not uncovered.

For indexing and reporting purposes I have consolidated the various spellings under just "Mominee".  However, when viewing  the various photo albums I have included their actual surname in the photo caption. It will also appear in the individual data information.
