About The Potvin /St. Laurent Family
Please sign in to see more. My name is Suzanne Marie Denise (Potvin) Saucier and I am the editor of this family tree. My parents are George Potvin and Theresa St.Laurent. As a youngster, I always wanted to know where my grandparents came from and their parents. Did I have any family ties to princes and princesses, or did my ancestors work very hard day and night to make ends meet? My best friend Brenda MacLellan (October 11, 1968-predeceased) and I would sit in my grandfathers' sandpit (Arthur St.Laurent) and daydream for hours and hours of our backgrounds and where we came from.
We would build elaborate sand castles and decorate them with moss and twigs we had found in the near by bushes and bring a bucket or two of water to make a stream. Our parents thought we were making mud pies! Our summer days were filled with castles and fairy tale people and daydreaming of jewels and gold and beautiful clothes that only the rich could afford. I never got a chance to start my research in the 70's or the 80's or for that matter the 90's, but in 2007 I decided it was time to make a commitment to myself and fulfill my dreams. This project is a commitment to Brenda, with love!
Being naive about "family trees" I had no idea the amount of time and effort it would take, but little by little, I saw the fruits of my labor come to life. I must acknowledge all my relatives and friends who have contributed. Whether it be a picture, a story or a tidbit of information - Thank you! This is not a one women show. It is the work of many hands. The history found is incredible, and should be shared by the Potvin's and the St. Laurent's. This could never have gotten off the ground without the love and support of my husband, Dwain, who spent many hours in restoring photos and scanning old pictures to add to our family tree. I will always be grateful to him for all his patience. I'll treasure this project till I die. Thank you!
Also, I must give many, many kudos to Rita McLaughlin (Corcoran), who without her help, especially when I was down and confused with names, put me back of the right railway track... no questions asked. Her devotion to this project is insurmountable.
This family tree criss-crosses several times and gets very confusing with people with the same names but a different spouse... I thank God for having Rita in my life and for all her hard work, go-getting attitude, she doesn't leave a page or a clue to escape her fingers. She gets the facts when others would have quit. She is a very giving and helpful person. I can never repay her for all her help and undying loyalty. Rita is a treasure in my family tree.
**P.S. IF YOU HAVE VISITED THIS SITE, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE YOU SIGNING YOUR NAME IN THE GUEST BOOK - THANK YOU VERY MUCH**
