I started this addictive hobby in 1986, in pre-computer, pre-internet days, with a card index system - how times have changed!
The records on these pages come from many different sources. I have double checked all that I can but with many contributions from other enthusiasts it is not always possible to verify everything, particularly some of the early pre-Medieval records where even some of the accounts written at the time are at variance.
Everyone in this tree is a blood relative (or married to a blood relative) of my children. Some are very distant - 14th cousins etc - but blood relatives non-the-less. I shall never be rich or famous but I would like to be remembered in centuries to come as someone who has left a lasting legacy in the widest form possible of his whole family and their history. Any help in this endeavour is much appreciated.
Making new contacts is a special thrill. I am in contact with family members in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, France, Canada and the United States as well as throughout the United Kingdom.
If there are any mistakes, additions, extra details or corrections, please e-mail me and I will update as soon as possible. Copies of documents and photographs, old and new are also very much appreciated - more still are always welcome! My e-mail is tbroadhrst@aol.com. I have more than 13,000 photographs and documents. Where there are additional items available they are listed in each individual's notes under the sub-heading PHOTO LIBRARY. If you already know you are a part of this tree, I hope there may be at least a little of our family here that you did not previously know.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
