The male Ince line goes back via London to Clare in Suffolk. The ealiest traced person was a John Inch born 1660.Many were tradesmen. Umbrella makering was a common trade, In Clare there was a tailor in the High Street for many years. My g.g. Grandfather was one of three brothers who started an umbrella businss in Clare. They moved to Hackey, London and one of the brother`s direct descendants carries on the business today! Through my grandmother, Elizabeth English wife of William George Ince, I can trace back to Antoinette Le Grand born 1580. She was born in France.Another direct line goes back to 1650, a Jean Godier also born in France and another direct line can be traced to Jean LeRoy born about 1450 1n Bardes, Ainse, Northern France. The french ancestors were silk weavers and fled France due to being Huguenots.A further possible line goes through Sarah Debois to French nobility but I cannot prove this connection at the moment. My G.G.Grandmother, Elizabeth Oakley has ancesters going back to a George Alleyne born 1460 at Chartley Manor, Staffs. A reference to George states the line can be traced back to a Sir Alans de Buchenhall who held lordship of Buchenhall in the reign of Edward 1.(See note on tree against George Alleyne 1460.) This line has two routes back to William 1st. of England. One direct and one to the Grandmother of William. On my mother`s side I can trace the direct line back to Shropshire. My G.G.G. Grandfather was Ellis Jones born about 1760. My G.G.Grandfather, John Ellis Jones married a Mary Ann Watkiss. Her father, William came from Wem, Shropshire and Mary Ann`s Grandfather was a Thomas Watkiss born 1734 a miller at Soulton and a man of some property. I have both his Will and that of his son, William. Before Thomas was Edward born about 1705 married to a Sarah Morris and his father Edward born about 1675 and married to a Dorrithy. All of Wem. I have no proof of ancestors before 1675 but it is quite possible the line goes back to 1563 in Wem. In 2020 I had a DNA Test and as a result found several "cousins", many of them in Australia.Afew from the USA and one from Switzerland. The most common ancestor I shared with these relatios was James Godier and Sarah Cheese. James being born in 1793 in London. Please note that in some cases the date given as that of birth is actually the date baptised.
