About My Family Tree- Branches, Leaves, Twigs and a Few Nuts
Please sign in to see more. "In all of us there is a hunger, marrow-deep, to know our heritage - to know who we are and where we have come from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is still a vacuum, an emptiness and the most disquieting loneliness." -- Alex Haley
This is an ongoing project, but I've covered over 365 years so far!
**** Some names have the word {patriot} next to them. This means I have found documented proof of their military or patriotic service during the Revolutionary War. This information was obtained either by actual documents or records found in the DAR (Daughters of the American
Revolution) database.****
I have also referenced "A History of Knox County" by Elmer Decker (1939) as a verified source because many of the Knox County, Kentucky documents were lost (sent to the dump) when the courthouse was moved in 1964. Mr. Decker's book, written many years prior to the move, compiled many events that were among the documents destroyed. The Bell County, Kentucky Library has a copy on CD of Mr. Decker's manuscript. A portion of the book has been posted on the web by the Bell County Public Library (see links below)
Please sign the guestbook and tell everyone how you are related. If you see anything that is incorrect, please contact me! If you have documents or photos of anyone in the tree, I would love to have a copy and post it on the site.
