About The Clouston Family by Victor B Clouston
Please sign in to see more.
This Clouston Family tree has been updated with the most up-to-date information. All the Scottish
Clouston names, for the period 1538 to 1854 have, wherever possible, been checked on the Scotlands
People web pages for Births, Marriages and Deaths. The information on the Scottish Peoples web site
is possibly the most accurate information for people born in Scotland, the information is
transcribed from Old Parish Records. While the majority of information is accurate the original
records were hand written and at time difficult to decipher, so yes, there will be some errors. If
you have information on a good source of information, please let me know. Many thanks.

The Family Tree is currently undergoing a major update and is continually being updated.

Some of the Sources used are:

Scotlands People - - one of the largest online resources of original
information on Scottish Ancestry.

Family Search web site - - a very useful site to check informtion. - there are many family trees on this site to compare information, however do not rely on this site as the information is
not always accurate.

Orkney Genealoy web site - - this site contains lots of information of Births and

Orkney Family History Society - - this is another excellent site with accurate
infornation, which I have used extensively.

I also us the My Heritage web site - - which has proved invaluable for research into this family tree.

One problem I have come up against is dates of birth. In old Parish records the recorded date may
be the date of christening/baptism or the actual birth date, so comparing data from various
sources can be very difficult. In some cases births were never registered, so no accurate
information is available.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
