In 1980 I began on the never-ending search for family, known and unknown. I have gone through periods of frenzy and sluggishness in my quest for information about my ancestors. Through it all I have maintained an immense love of doing genealogy research.
It all started out as the Veitz family tree and soon grew beyond belief with hundreds of surnames to keep track of. The number of entries has gotten so large that I decided to use Tribal Pages. The Veitz name is pronounced "Veets" and is often spelled Viets, Vietz, as well as Veitz. Apparently my grandfather, Clarence Edward Veitz, changed the spelling as I have found records with his signature first spelled Vietz and then Veitz.
My Veitz family originates from the Benton, Pennsylvania area. Actually my father was born in a place called Jamison City, Pennsylvania. Jamison City almost does not exist anymore. There are some houses there, but its heyday was in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Other familiar names of places my dad used to talk about are Bloomsburg, Orangeville, Noxen, and Berwick.
Another interesting family I am connected to is the Foote family. I spent some years in the Jamestown, New York area where there is a street named Foote Avenue. The very first physician in Jamestown, New York was Elial Todd Foote. While I do not connect directly to Dr. Foote, I do connect to his cousin Nathaniel Foote, who was a settler to the United States from England.
Because genealogy is an ongoing endeavor, changes to this site are inevitable. Stay tuned for additions and corrections.
