How to EXPORT GEDCOM from TP

I have 3 TP sites of my main family trees that I want to combine into one big [paid] site. I guess the best way is to export two of the sites via GEDCOM, then import them to the remaining one. Agreed? Meanwhile, TP tells all about how to IMPORT a GEDCOM but nothing about how to EXPORT. I'm hoping it's possible. I've spent MANY hours and (do not need a lecture on how I SHOULD have done this in the first place, so please don't bother - I had a reason). I would be so happily grateful for anyone's help. Thanks :-)

You will need to have three paid for sites to be able to download the GEDCOM from each site, then merge them together using Family Tree software on your computer, then you will be able to upload back to Tribal as one Family Tree.

Hi Anna, as Jan has pointed out you will need three paid sites.

The easiest way to download is to go to EDIT---DASHBOARD

and you will see this

Files

Backup / Download

Upload GEDCOM

Click on DOWNLOAD and go from there.

All the best

Ok, I saved each of my pages as a ged file and I started a new Tribal page. I thought I would add each page into it and have one BIG page. However, as you probably know, each time I put in one of the ged files, it overrode the last one. Instead of having three on one page, I still have just ONE. Is that normal? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks

Hi Anna,it is completely incorrect.

As Jan suggested you download your GEDCOMs, and you merge these in a A FAMILY TREE Program ( Not Tribal Pages )on your computer.

You do not seem to have done this. This will then give you one new GEDCOM which you then upload to Tribal Pages.

So sorry I cannot do anything to help you

Happily (for my cheap little heart)I found out that it doesn't require a paid subscription to export a gedcom from TP. Simply backup the files and save to computer via ged files. I googled it and found out - didnt find it on the forum or TP site. Then I uploaded to FamilySearch.org which merged and helped me clean up the three sets of files. Whew.

What you have to do i to firstly download a genealogy program onto your own computer - there are several free ones available on the net, some easy to use ones are Personal Ancestry File (PAF) from familysearch.org, or the free versions of Legacy and Rootsmagic, but there are several others.

When you have downloaded the program on to your home computer, you can upload the Tribalpages gedcoms onto it. This may mean that you have some people duplicated, so you will have to merge any that this happens on. The program will tell you how to do this.

When you are satisfied that everything is right, you need to export a gedcom from the program which will give you a combined gedcom to upload tto your Tribal site. It sounds complicated, but the instructions are normally very easy to follow.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Much thanks to the helpful suggestions! I really appreciate you guys!

Here's my report: Happily, you Do Not have to have "paid" Tribalpages sites in order to export. Simply do the backup and save to your computer as a ged file. After wasting a lot of time signing up on "free" sites that have minimal storage space and don't have a merge function, I went to FamilySearch.org, which I love anyway. It is great! I uploaded their PAF program and was in business. I imported my three ged files, did the "merge" and clean up as their clear directions instruct and now I have my one big happy family :-) I haven't yet gotten my family imported back to TribalPages, but hope to soon.

Thanks again for any and all help.
