Regarding the missing images on your homepage, it's because the are not https sources. Since we have moved to a secure https platform all scripts and photos must be https
If what you say is correct then how is it that I have photos on my home page and in some persons notes that are from an http source and yet they appear perfectly. I am using Photobucket for the text and it starts with http
Here is just a small section of the text for the first photo on the left on my home page. It is http text.
><a href="http://s1333.photobucket.com/
You will notice that the secure icon appears when you browse away from your home page to say the "family view"
Les says he is having trouble using IE8. I have not got a problem with IE11/Windows 10. I have a large number of http text items throughout my site and all appear fine using IE, Mozilla, Slimjet. Chrome and Microsoft Edge. I have noticed that some music text does not work with certain browsers but it has been like that for some time. Not new.
I will have to resurrect my old desktop with IE8 from a cupboard in the garage and, if it still works, see if I can recreate Les's problem.
I wonder if other Tribalpages Members are having trouble with IE8. Then again who else with IE8 would have all the useful data that Les is passing on to members. I hope that you can get to the bottom of this problem for Les as he does supply so much very useful information for members.
As Alan has told you I am using IE 8 and do not want to change, and even if I did, this would not change the prefix HTTP on any of my previous work.
Therefore I suggest that you find a means for me and possibly others to be able to use our sites, as we were able to, a week ago, as the change is your doing.
This also does not solve the problem with NAME INDEX not working on my site before your HTTPS and now after te HTTPS.

Les
Going to Compatibility View Settings in Internet Explorer and inserting my site I found that in your tree, when I clicked on a name, the GO BUTTON DID NOT WORK.
I removed my site from compatibility view and the GO BUTTON DID WORK.
THE SAME HAPPENS IN MY OWN SITE (I have IE11)
Do you have your site in compatibility mode. If so I suggest that you remove it and see if your GO button works.
Good luck.
Thanks again
Les
As you know the trouble was with the NAME INDEX button and as others can see it , it does not matter.
As this is only a simple LINK to other parts of my site the back ARROW works just as well.
The MAIN trouble then occured when TS decided to change HTTP to HTTPS, this then messed up the photograpahs on the HOME PAGE and STORIES. Simply got over this by changing the HTTPS to HTTP.
As you now know, nothig has been achieved by this, as you are still getting the warnings it is still unsafe, as you previously mentioned a few times to TS.
So all in all I believe that TS should have left well alone.
No I will still stay with IE8.
Thanks for the LINK to the other BROWSERS but have tried most of them, and they do not accept the HTTP coding that I do a lot of, as well as IE8.
If you remember that is why I suggested to you FLASHPEAK SLIMJET as this does.
The other thing that is WRONG in TS is the CALENDAR it does not show the DECEASED although it should. Have asked TP to look into it but as usual NO REPLY.
Can you check to see if you can see them?.

The https system is working fine as far as I am concerned. I have contacted some other members of my site and they have not had any problems viewing my tree. As I said earlier I don't use IE much now. I find chrome and Microsoft Edge are the best for me. Use what suits you. Thats the best way to go.
Yes as I can get my site working, all is Ok
See you
Les
This does not mean that deaths should be included or that they have missed them out when they had said or inferred that they would be there.
The Calendar is a list if birthdays and anniversaries. Only living people are included and Tribalpages need to use death data to be able to exclude people who have died. That is the reason for their use of the words "deaths". Therefore, having thought about this matter more I see no problem with what T/P have said. Clicking on "events" it comes up "Style: Calendar | List". Clicking on "list" we get a well presented Calendar of birthdays and anniversaries. I see no problem myself. However Tribalpages should have answered your messages.
Good to hear that your site is now working OK.
"Note: This section is generated automatically from birth, death and marriage dates of names in your site."
As I said they use the death data to generate a list of birthdays and anniversaries of LIVING PEOPLE.
I have no problem with their wording.
The SECTION is generated automatically from birth, death and marriage. Why mention DEATH if it is not to be included, and DEATHS are an Annivesary.
Although I know the Dates of most of my close family that have passed away , and I take fowers to teir Graves, there are a lot of people tat te CALENDAR is a reminder for this
Anniversaries and Births are a help for doing the TREE, as well as reminding Family Members of their Nearst and dearest.
No Alan Tribal Support should correct this.

Sceen Shot CALENDAR and LIST
DEATHS as mentioned SHOULD BE INCLUDED
Les, Please stop sending me messages on this subject. I have had enough. I am quite happy with Tribalpages "events" "calendar". Keep at them if you wish but this is my last message on the subject.
Best wishes,
Alan
Nothing wrong with my site regarding this. The anniversaries only show LIVING , and will not show these if you HIDE the LIVING on your site.
They do not show Anniversaries or Birthdays of the deceased, so I suggest that you look at youe Events again
As of you I have made myselg clear , although you cannot see this so end of subject.
All the best
Les
I am sure that the majority of members do not want the past staring them in the face when they want to see who is having a birthday or anniversary in that month. The events calendar is for LIVING PEOPLE. Not the DEAD.
If you don't like my view then thats your prerogative. My opinion is that you should leave the events calendar alone and if you want something for the dead then suggest anther feature program to Tribalpages. Not everyone thinks as you do.
However if Tribalpages want to play around with the existing Events Calendar, I certainly will nor lose any sleep over that.
That's my lot on this matter. I have more important things to do.
This is your view only, as mine is mine.
Again I will point out the Events Calendar is not just for Living, as it will not work if you state that you HIDE the LIVING and therefore would be empty of Birthdays and Anniversaries.
Death obviously can be a recent thing, so it should be included as Tribal Pages state.
To me this is important .

Les
If you put in the anniversaries for deaths, where do you stop. Some people have 15,000 or more deaths in their tree. Deaths within a very short period may be OK. Maybe last 12 months. I certainly don't want a death anniversary shown in my Event Calendar for someone who died in 1600. Not even if it was the King of England.
I would still prefer a separate item in the drop down menu headed "recent deaths" or something to that effect. At present only the latest death is shown at top of home page. It would not be a silly idea to have a separate panel for recent deaths as we have for birthdays and top surnames etc. A much better idea I think than add it to the "events calendar" I don't think of past deaths as an event but you probably don't agree with that either. In a separate panel on the home page these names would be immediately seen by both members and non members of a tree. They are somewhat hidden in the Events Calendar, although would appear in Newsletters.
I not officially promoting these suggestion to Tribalpages but if they read this perhaps they will give it some consideration. Also if anyone else wants to give their views they are welcome as long as they don't tell me so expertly as Les does that I am wrong.
Les, Sleep well in Wales . Its 12.30pm here.
Yes your suggestion is sound, but if Tribal Support had ever answered me I was going to suggest a Cut Off commencing with the last 10 / 15 years. So if they started with say the year 20oo, that would not or should not overwhelm site.
I use the LIST part of EVENTS as if I want a reminder of anyting I would start a Fictitious family and then I could put in a NAME of a person such as Family Reunion, and there it would be on the List. I suggested this a few years back, and quite a few Members use it.
Once again I apologise , as obviously I did not want to create friction between us.

As I have already said, I prefer to see the Events section kept to future events. Birthdays and Anniversaries for example. Thats what it is now and there is no need to complicate that section by trying to add what has happened in the past.
While your idea of having deaths in there somewhere is good I think the logical move is to have a separate section such as "recent deaths" in the drop down menu PLUS a panel on the home page. That is my preference.
Frankly I am not going to waste more of my time over this issue. You can push Tribalpage all you like but I have finished with the subject. I have given my final opinion on the matter. I did not appreciate the way the exchange of messages was heading. A simple exchange of ideas was all that was needed. However no real harm done and no doubt we will find something else to discuss before long.

Alan

Nothing else what so ever on this page. Before this problem I would have been able to view your home page.
This seems to indicate that your site is now 100% private, even the home page. Did you intend to set it like that. ??
Just checked and it seems somehow it was altered. Will you please try again and let me know, with the LINK below or the HOUSE ICON.

Let me know if its all solved as far as you are concerned and if so I will put my old Desk Top with IE 8 away to sleep once again. At least I have got that to the stage where I know it still works but as yet I have not attempted to connect to the Internet.
I still see https. and no ophotos.

Has private site been removed
I then went to GOOGLE and selected FORUM again and selected your HOUSE ICON and everything showing NOTICE that it the address is showing HTTP.
Seems as if TP has not fully sorted it out.
