Hi Tribal pages, have had a chance to try it a bit more fully. As for Videos VERY VERY disappointing .

I have spent most of the day trying to upload Family Videos. After spending a lot of time converting these to mp4,They are now too long, but with no indication from you Upload Bar, which completes then Disappears with no indication that the upload has failed.

I have shortened some ( Which obviously spoils them )to get it to work but as you have mentioned you can only put this against a Name.

As you know I have explained to Members for years how to do this with HTML where you can have more tan one VIDEO joined showing for as long as they like AND WHERE THEY LIKE

Homepage Story Photograph Names.

YOU TUBE can be used see attached LINK.

No I feel that you have to do a lot better than this.

Regards

Les

Hi Les,

Thank you for your feedback. Sorry to disappoint you. Based on your feedback we are making some corrections:

[1] The upload was limited to 15Mb for each file. Increasing it to 50Mb.

[2] Check file size prior to upload and display a message if file is too big.

We will post a message here when this fixes have been incorporated.

Given your latest modifications as a result of User feedback, I must say "Well Done TP". Previously I have used Microsoft's One Drive as a repository for PDF, Video, sound and similar files and then embedded them into the person's notes.

Admittedly, I have only tried the new approach for a PDF file but I found it simple and easy, and the solution for displaying or making the file available to the User is not only equally straight-forward, but elegant as well.

Well done TP (now what will I use my free 20Gb of OneDRive space for?)

Regards

TP Please Note: Now that I am getting more familiar with the media file upload, a couple of suggestion:

1. Make it possible to provide or change the title of the item - at the moment you are stuck with the file name, not necessarily a good descriptor for what it represents.

2. When the, in this case, PDF indicator is displayed so the User can click on it to display or play the item, the title should also be displayed so the person knows what they may be accessing.

Hi Ian,

[1] You can change the title and date of the file by clicking the "edit" icon between "size" and "names" in the "Other Files" page (when signed in as administrator)

[2] The title of the document is displayed as a popup when you hover over the Icon of the document in the family view page.

Thanks TP - I had tried clicking on the "Edit" link, but of course that only enabled me to edit the names attached to the item. I had not even noticed the little icon - it is very pale and indistinct. But of course, now I know it's there.

As far as displaying the item title, I think it would improve readability greatly if the title was displayed next to the icon link.

Regards,

Ian Marr

A further addendum to the displaying of these "other type" items. Regardless of whether the object name is displayed (without the need to hover on it) it would be useful to provide a clear indication of the size - for those with "not so fast" connections, it would be of assistance if they knew they were about to load, say, a 3.5Mb PDF file.
