I tried without success to find this information elsewhere. I was going over my records and realized Howard Weston Arnold was a widow in 1930 at age 25. I only knew of his second wife from family interviews.

I found a listing that he married Agnes Flick in Summit, Ohio. She died in 1927, so it is a good match. I do not have the date of their marriage, or the mother's names. Arnold is such a common name that if it available I would like to know the names that are listed. I did get confirmation his father's name in the record was George Weston Arnold. I do not know how they came to be in Ohio. She was from Chautauqua and his brother married someone from there (I have the full record from family search on his marriage).

If it is a good match the mother's name should be Nellie E. Hale. I'm interested in Agnes's parents names as well though.

Thank you for pointing out that George remarried a Matty sometime between 1910 and 1915. I knew in the 1910 US census a Matty VanDusen lived in the household. I had seen a marriage record in Chicago for a George W. Arnold that I thought was a likely match, but the 1915 NY Census proved that wasn't right. I decided to try another site that a use a lot for NYC research. I found G. Weston Arnold in the groom index, married Mattye VanDusen on Apr. 29, 1912 in Manhatten. So that is icing on the cake to find that. I highly recommend that site for NYC vital records.

Yes, I found a news clipping from 1929 that confirms George married Mattye in 1912 & then things went down hill(scandalous) after 1923.

Oh, my goodness. Do you realize his son (Howard Weston Arnold) is a famous artist whose work is available online for hundreds of dollars (not thousands, but not bad)? He also illustrated books, and some day I am going to get at least one, I hope.

He gave a large painting to my in-laws as a wedding gift. They didn't have a kitchen table, so they used the painting I am told.

I am sure you have or will e-mail me the clippings you found and I have to thank you. I found his other son Raymond in Chautauqua, NY married Mary Jane Blakesley in 1926.

I thought it was so romantic that Matty went to NY with him and got married to him, too.
