If itis them, and you don't have access to Ancestry, let me kno and I'll expand on the basic info.
Hope this helps.
Matilda Huey (age 20) married Hugh Stewart (age 22) on June 3 1910. From this record I know that Samuel Huey married to Catherine Murray is Matilda's Father.
So any info relating to The Hueys and Stewarts would be very welcome.
I do have quite a bit of info on the Stewarts, going back to the highland clearances.
I am also very interested in finding a living Male Stewart so that I can ask him to have his DNA done at my expence if need be.
I have my own DNA from my Dads Side.(Neelys)
Thank you for your interest and I look forward to hearing from you.
Pete.
I think the best thing is if you contact me though my site so that I can send you a Word file of what I've found. Also, can I have an invitation to your site,to see what you already have to save duplication?
By the way, the family I found is 99.9% yours.
Pauline
Thanks for your help.
Pete.
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, but we’ve had some domestic crises (hospital etc) and some things got put in the back burner.
Well, your Hueys are certainly a problem to find anything on. For a start there are no civil registrations for the children under the name of Huey or Hoey. I did find a series of children registered under the name of Howie, which could phonetically be the same, but the year dates are all adrift by a couple of years. These were all registered in Port Glasgow, which was actually in Renfrewshire. The ones that might be of interest are:
HOWIE HANNAH F 1892 574/ 136 Port Glasgow
HOWIE JOSEPH M 1893 574/ 424 Port Glasgow
HOWIE SAMUEL M 1896 574/ 266 Port Glasgow
HOWIE AMELIA MOIR F 1896 574/ 477 Port Glasgow
HOWIE JOHN M 1898 574/ 118 Port Glasgow
If these are the wrong family, then all I can suggest is that the children were actually born in Ireland. We know their mother was Irish, and Huey is an Irish name. I also can’t find a marriage in Scotland or England/Wales for Samuel and Catherine. Personally, I think they were probably married in Ireland.
This is from findmypast, and is the 1901 census entry for the Hueys.

This is interesting as there is an 1891 census entry for Glasgow for a George Huey, aged 3, living with a family of McGowans:
Name: George Huey
Age: 3
Estimated birth year: abt 1888
Relationship: Adopted Son
Gender: Male
Where born: Glasgow, Lanarkshire
Registration Number: 644/6
Registration district: St Rollox
Civil Parish: Glasgow Springburn
County: Lanarkshire

It might be worth following up the McGowan family. Both James and Elizabeth were Irish.
Sorry, I can’t find any more on your Hueys, but hope this is of some help. Try using Howey, as there seem to be a lot of records in that name.
Good Luck.
