Looking for information on Walter Gordon "Rex" Sassman of Austin TX.

Son of James Sassman, Austin, TX

Walter was a crew member of the USS Indianapolis and went down with the ship in 1945.

I think you got some of his name mixed up. His name was Gordon W Sassman, not "Walter Gordon".

He was born Gordon Wallace Sassman in Travis County, Texas. Austin is in Travis County.

He was lost at Sea. His listed twice on Find A Grave. Once at National Military Cemetery and another marker honoring him at the same cemetery as mother Myrtle was buried in Austin, Texas.

From another list he was referred to as "Walter" by a respondent who was a cousin.

Do you have any information on his father 'James"?
