I have info on my ancestors going back to 1630. I was in France a few years ago and tried to get info on my ancestors but didn't have any success. I am limited due to the fact that I can not read or write French. Does anyone know how I can get genealogy info from France. I was told that most of the info from the 1600's and earlier was probably destroyed in the various wars.

Ancestry.com has a French collection. How extensive it is, I don't know.

This URL will take you to YouTube and Ancestry Academy that tell you about their French Canadian info.

Thanks very much for your reply Robert. I will give the sites a try. With a name like Robert Burns you must be Scottish. My wife was born in Dumbarton, Scotland.
