Hi,

Is it possible to be able to change the gender of a person?

If we make a boo-boo and put the as a girl instead of a boy, depending on the names, can we change it later or do we need to delete them?

Cheers Sandra

Isn't it possible to select the required sex, select the individual from 'existing persons', and save? Then delete original entry.

I've never had to change an orientation, but think that is the first route I would try.

I would like that, too. I have a lot of babies that died and I usually put them as a boy. Then, few years later I find an obituary of one of the family members and it was a baby sister/daughter that died. Whoops. It is easy for me to delete and create a new person as there is little information on there. But, it would be nice to switch them.

To expand on your idea. Maybe we could have unknown gender in a yellow band instead of pink or blue. That may be too much to ask. It is not a necessity for me just a suggestion.

Thank you,

Melinda

Is there a feature that I have to turn on that will give me pink or blue borders on the names? Mine are all black bordered.

I meant the pink and blue bands that show up when you edit a person's information. The pink and blue borders do show up to give a person's gender in the relationships tool, and when you view the ancestors/decendants instead of family. I was more concerned of the gender listing because in the reports it uses the pronouns she and he under the description of the person (Example: ...she was 64.). I would like to be as accurate as possible by having an unknown gender option we could choose from.

You did bring up a good point, though. I am not sure why there are not pink/blue borders that show up around the people in family view.

This sort of sparks a related issue. What about a person who has a sex change?
