Pls consider adding an email or "send email" button beside someones email address (also on the guests and members page beside each entry as well). Should be a simple thing to add (make a call to the users installed default email program and pass the address). Or better yet, actually create an email form and do it through your own web server.

Thanks

Mark, if it will help, you can add this to your HOME PAGE, with a simple piece of HTML. Let me know if you would like this. YOU CAN SEE THIS ON MY HOME PAGE

You can e-mail me on my PAGE.

All the best

Thanks Les. That is a really beautiful site you have. Very nice, and I'm impressed with the genealogy as well. I guess I've got a long way to go.

I was not so much interested in having people email me as I wanted to be able to use the info in the family tree or on the contacts page to be able to email others. But thanks for the kind offer.

Take care,

Just a thought, but why not use the guest book as an address book? It records email addresses and links to Outlook.

Hi Pauline,

Thanks for the suggestion. I guess I had not thought of it because my guest book is empty :-)

However there are about 2 dozen names with emails in the invitations section (guests and members) plus dozens more strewn throughout the family tree on individual member pages.

Don't know what the best way is to do this, but I thought it would be nice if there was a way to click on any email address you see throughout the site and be able to send an email message. Would be handy for those occasions when you get a sudden impulse to email someone.

I think you can enter details onto your own guest book, so it might be an idea.

Hope you sort it, anyway.

Yes you can enter anything and as many times as you like into your GUEST BOOK, but you would have to add the e-mail address of the person, as if they had entered the entry, you want to contact, for it to work.

To make it simpler just open up a STORY PAGE and call it e-mail addresses, and use the HTML code that I suggested earlier, for each person, and you would then have a list, that all you would have to do, is click on anyone, and it would open OUTLOOK EXPRESS.

I'm not saying your way doesn't work, only that the guest book has it's own advantages.

First, you can access it one step shorter than having to enter stories then find the right story, and, secondly, and more importantly, you just need to enter the details without html, which a lot of people are wary of using (I was myself until I got used to it, and I still try everything out before I actually put it on site). Surely, you would also have to add each email address into a story page, with html, whereas in the guest book you can just cut and paste the email address.

Let's just say give an alternative way of doing it.

Regards

Pauline

Hi Pauline, yes I agree with you partly. If you enter their address in the GUEST BOOK as far as I know you cannot click on it and go direct to OUTLOOK.

But with the STORY you click on the address and you go DIRECT to OUTLOOK

As for one step shorter. You see GUEST BOOK on MENU one CLICK AND YOUR there. You will also see your STORY on YOUR HOME PAGE one click and your there.

Nice to have this conversation

Hi Pauline, meant to say . You would have to enter their e-mail address as if they have entered into your guest book.

If you just put their e-mail address in text box in Guest Box, it will not work, unless you put it in there with the HTML code

Hi Les

Perhaps my settings are different but clicking on an email address in my guest book brings up Outlook,

Great result for Wales against Namibia, by the way.

Yes we needed that result. We may be lucky to get into the quarter finals.

I dont think I have made myself clear.

In the GUEST BOOK whoever enters it puts their e-mail address, and yes you are correct that clicking on this takes you to OUTLOOK.

But if you want to use GUEST BOOK as a directory of e-mail addresses you will have to have everyone, that you need the e-mail address of, to put an entry in there, in other words, you will have to ask them to sign your GUEST BOOK.

It should work, if you use their e-mail address and sign the GUEST BOOK on their behalf, but I do not believe that this is the correct thhing to do.

Otherwise as I mentioned an entry can be opened up in GUEST BOOK for each of your contacts, and then put the HTML code in the TEXT box, as you can do in ONE STORY PAGE with a lst of contacts.

Looking forward to Sat and Sun for all the Home teams.

Hi Les

I think we'll just have to disagree on this one.

My other half was split in two last weekend, watching the F1 and also trying to catch up on the rugby he'd recorded. At least no F1 this weekend to complicate things.

Take care
