My life in Ontario, Canada stems from the immigration of great-grandparents from various countries.
On my mother's side my great-grandparents, William Bosworth Wootton and his wife Elizabeth (Snowden), emigrated from Wakefield, Yorkshire, England in the early 1900s. They settled in Hamilton, Ontario where they built a new life.
Meanwhile, my Ontario-born great-grandfather John Solomon Roth (adopted; birth mother Barbara Bast of German descent, birth father unknown) and my great-grandmother Hannah Carlson (born in Sweden), re-located from Manitoba to Hamilton after farming in the western Canadian province.
On my father's side, my great-grandfather Andrew Smith as a young lad came to Canada on his own from Ireland. He married Mary Wilkie (Scottish and Irish heritage), and their son George married Marie Finochio, whose parents emigrated to Canada from Italy.
This site is dedicated to my cousin, the late Sharon Roth, who before her passing compiled a significant amount of genealogical and historical information about the Roth and Wootton families, which has been included in this tree. She would be pleased to see her efforts digitized and made accessible for current and future generations.

— A special thank you to Allan Green for his research expertise and extensive contributions in the development of this tree. Without his leadership and assistance, this project wouldn't be possible. Also thanks to my new-found cousin Tim Bast, author of Bast Family History, 1821-2005, who was instrumental in helping solve the mystery surrounding the roots of John Solomon Roth and providing information on the Bast family.
