Evidence indicates direct ancestors include George Soule, Mayflower passenger & signer of the Mayflower Compact (1620); Thomas Greene, founder of St. Mary`s Colonie (1634) & 2nd Provincial Governor of Maryland (1650); several Revolutionary War & War Between the States Veterans; & an 1880 champion cyclist, Henry W. Higham, Sr. A 1st cousin, John Hanson, was the 1st elected President of the US under Articles of the Confederation (1781). Many more colorful settlers, pioneers & other characters are present as well.
Families are concentrated in Counties of Albemarle, Alexandria City, Fluvanna, & Fairfax, VA; Chautauqua Co./Jamestown area of NY; St. Mary`s & Prince George`s Co. in MD. Our transient nature has moved our DNA all over the country. Geographically listed by earliest appearance, some surnames contained herein are:

The file was compiled assembling data collected over the past several decades. It draws from family interviews, official records at various repositories, & trees posted on the web.
