I am creating this family tree so that my descendants and the descendants of other family members get to know a little bit of there origin. There are a lot of names in this tree and there are still a lot missing. Everybody in this tree is or was somehow related to me from recent to many generations ago by blood or by marriage we are all connected.
FIGURING OUT FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS.
Sometimes when working on family history, it is handy to know how to describe your family relationship more exactly. The definitions below should help out.
COUSINS (first cousins):They are the children of your aunts and uncles.
SECOND COUSINS: are the people in your family that have the same great-grandparents as you but not the same grand-parents.
THIRD,FOURTH,FIFTH COUSINS: Your third cousins have the same great-great-grandparents. Fourth cousins have the same great-great-great-grandparents and so on and so on.
REMOVED: When the word "REMOVED" is used to describe a relationship, it indicated that the 2 people are from different generations. You and your first cousin are in the same generation (2 generations younger then your grandparents) so the word "removed" is not used to describe hyour relationship.
The word "ONCE REMOVED" mean that there is a difference of one generation. For example, your mother's first cousin, is your first cousin once removed. This is because your mother's first cousin is one generation younger than your grandparents and you are two generations younger then your grandparents. This one generation difference equals "once removed".
The word "TWICE REMOVED" means that there is two generations difference. You aretwo generations younger then a first cousin of your grandmother, so you and your grandmother's first cousin are first cousin, twice removed.
This family tree includes four main families: Loranger and Lamoureux Goudreault and Labonte
In order to complete the LORANGER tree a person must start from where the name originates at. Well the name started by being RIVARD. Several last names were started by the Rivard family. In the history at one point there was some that became Rivard dit Loranger. Pierre Rivard had a son by the name of Robert who was born July 10th 1638 adopted the name Loranger to his last name of Rivard. This is where Rivard dit Loranger came from. Robert had a son born October 27th 1691, his name was Rene-Alexis Loranger. He is believed to be the first to only wear Loranger as his last name.
Some of his descendants used the name Rivard and others the name Loranger.
The Loranger name is my grandfather's name on my father's side of the family. The Lamoureux name is my grandmother's maiden name on my father's side of the family.
The Goudreault name is my grandfather's name on my mother's side of the family. The Labonte name is my grandmother,s maiden name on my mother's side.
You will notice that in the actual documentation of descendants I have Thomas Rivard's descendants and not starting at (Loranger) because Loranger are descendants of Thomas Rivard.
Another important note** You will find throughout these documents the first name "Anonyme". This is people that died at birth or shortly after birth and the parents had not yet named them or baptized them.
Raymond Loranger
I would like to thank everybody who contributed information for this tree.
A very special Thank you to my aunt Jeannine Marie Laura Loranger married to Robert Genest. She has done a great deal of the leg work, lots of copying, e-mails and extreme patience doing this research and forwarded it to me by e-mail and by Canada post. Very valuable research and information that would have never come to me without her help and knowledge of Genealogy.
Today the 24th of October 2013, I would like to say thank you to Walter Edwin Blouin for a lot of new information that he is sending me to add to my site. Walter is my 8th cousin 0nce removed. We are connected thru Joseph Adrien Lamoureux who was born in 1706. |
